The Joke of the Week
7/9/2004
The Math Corps not only concentrates on PURE Math but it also concentrates on having fun while learning math. That is why we have Joke of the Week. Staff members dress up and act out a joke and try to make the students of Math Corps laugh. At the end of the joke the students judge if the joke is funny. (Most of the time they are not, but they are still fun to watch.)

Below is a link to view the latest video of the joke of the week (there are no videos to view yet).

Before the Bell
1/1/2000
While each day officially begins at 9:30 am, our doors open at 8:30 am. Students are warmly greeted, provided with a light breakfast and can participate in any number of optional activities, including playing games such as chess and mancala, going over homework or just plain socializing. The high school teaching assistants (TA’s) meet at 9:00 am with their college instructors (CI’s) to plan out their team’s day.

Assembly
1/1/2000
A half-hour assembly formally begins the day, with “Roll Call” promptly at 9:30 am. Students who come late are not admitted. The main purpose of the assembly is to help develop the sense of community that rests at the core of the program.

Team Time
1/1/2000
"Team Time," which follows the assembly, is one hour in duration and is conducted purely under the leadership of the college and high school students. Each team consists of 10 middle school students, led by a college student instructor (CI) and five high school teaching assistants (TA’s).

The Courses
1/1/2000
Every student in the Math Corps receives formal instruction in both basic Mathematics and in advanced topics.

Lunch/Family Meal Day
1/1/2000
Students are required to bring a lunch or money for lunch every day except Thursday. They have the opportunity to eat at the various campus restaurants and get a feel for what it’s like to be on a college campus.

Activities and Community Service
1/1/2000
For a complete listing of Activities please refer to the "Activities Handbook" and "Community Service Handbook" located in the downloads section.

Closing Ceremonies
1/1/2000
The Summer Programs end on a Friday night with the Math Corps’ Closing Ceremonies. The event is a celebration of both student achievement and the building of a "family." Student work completed during the summer is displayed, academic presentations are given in groups by both middle and high school students and awards are presented to acknowledge outstanding student achievement. Then, in keeping with the Math Corps’ philosophy, awards are primarily given for dedication, commitment and hard work. The event traditionally ends with the entire student body and staff performing "The Math Corps Rap."
