The Math Corps Saturday Programs provide the opportunity to support Math Corps students and their family members during the academic year. As in the Summer Programs, participants are taught and mentored by WSU faculty and university students.


Super Saturdays (grades 6-8)

The Super Saturdays Program serves forty middle school students in a ten-week program that takes place during the winter semester. Students participate in both advanced studies and reinforcement of basic Mathematics skills.


Saturday College Prep Program (grade 9)

The Saturday College Prep Program is comprised of two five to ten week sessions, one in the fall and one in the winter, each serving 40-45 ninth grade students. In addition to participating in grade level and advanced studies in Mathematics, the students receive preliminary training designed to prepare them to fill the role of high school Teaching Assistant for the Math Corps Summer Programs.


Michigan Math Prize Competition Team (grades 9-12)

The Michigan Math Prize Competition (MMPC), an activity of the Michigan Section of the Mathematics Association of America, is a prestigious statewide Mathematics competition for high school students that provides college scholarships to top-placing students. The Saturday MMPC component partners with the summer component to provide on-going preparation for the exam, which takes place in the fall of each year. MMPC registration fees for students that participate in the preparatory courses are paid for by the Math Corps.


ACT Prep Program (grades 10-12)

High school students participating in the ACT Prep Program participate in a problem-solving workshop that prepares them to maximize their performance on the Mathematics portion of the ACT college placement exam.


Family Math Initiative (parents/family members of Math Corps students)

The Family Math Initiative provides Mathematics instruction to family members of Math Corps students as a means of enhancing the family members’ own Mathematics education, their ability to work with and understand the Mathematics their child is learning, and to reinforce the importance of the study of mathematics in general.
