WSU launches the "Center for Excellence and Equity in Mathematics"

The WSU Center for Excellence and Equity in Mathematics (the Center), at all times, serves as a powerful advocate for the simple belief that all children have greatness within them, and that every child - every child - should have the opportunity to realize it.  The Center strives to provide a powerful voice in our nation's discussion about math education and an incredibly valuable resource to our state in helping to secure its future.  The Center for Excellence and Equity in Mathematics seeks to answer the challenge of transforming mathematics education in the United States and, in turn, preparing today's students to meet rigorous academic standards and achieve success in the professional world.

The Center for Excellence and Equity in Mathematics was chartered in 2007 at Wayne State University to build upon the successful 16-year legacy of the Mathematics Pipeline programs, which has become the ultimate training ground for students from middle school through college as they gain the abilities to think logically, reason analytically, solve problems and communicate clearly.  The cornerstones of the Center - Math Corps, Middle School Math Program, Math Corps College Success Center and Emerging Scholars Program - provide the framework for delivering innovative and essential mathematics education programs to students, especially from inner cities and underrepresented minority groups.
