Scholarship Opportunities for Math Corps Students Attending Wayne State University
Presidential Scholarship
Beginning with the fall 2003 semester, Wayne State University began offering the prestigious Presidential Scholarship to Math Corps students that meet specific criteria, in particular, having been a participant of the Math Corps for a minimum of three years.
The Office of Financial Aid announced the first fourteen scholarship recipients at the Math Corps Culminating Ceremonies that took place at the end of the 2003 Math Corps summer programs. A further commitment was made to offer Presidential Scholarships to the next three years of graduating Math Corps students that satisfy the pre-established criteria.
The Presidential Scholarship covers tuition for four years and partial room and board for the first year in one of Wayne State’s residence halls. The scholarship is currently valued at over $23,000.
Wayne State University Math Corps Scholarship Fund
The WSU Math Corps Scholarship Fund was established in June 2003 to recognize academic achievement, dedication to learning, and community involvement. The Fund supports the continued success of Math Corps Students by providing financial assistance for their education at Wayne State University.
Recipients must be undergraduate students who are either former or current members of the WSU Math Corps and preference is given to students who participated in the Math Corps at both the middle and high school levels.
The amount and number of awards made each year is determined by funds available in the Scholarship Fund. Typical awards range between $500 and $2,000 and recipients are eligible to receive repeat awards.
