Math Corps wins the 2011 Community Leadership Award

The Math Corps has received the Wayne State University Community Organization Leadership Award for 2011.  This award was established in order to honor individuals or organizations whose contributions affect the community in a positive way.  The award was presented during the tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., held at the Max M. Fisher Music Theatre on January 18.  Michael Chrzan, a high school senior teaching assistant in the camp, accepted the award on behalf of the organization.

Math Corps recognized at the 2010 Clinton Global Initiative

The Wayne State University Math Corps was one of three programs highlighted at the 2010 Clinton Global Initiative Conference held in April.  WSU president, Jay Noren, and Math Corps alumni representatives, Joseph Ratcliff, III, Jaron Bentley, Nicole Plummer, and Alanna Tremble were recognized by President Clinton for Math Corps' commitment to improving student achievement in Detroit.  The presentation can be viewed at:   http://www.youtube.com/waynestateuniversity#p/a/u/0/hEudmZCuAZA 


Summer Camp 2008

From their seats in the auditorium, twisted around in anticipation, the students eagerly waited for the next installment of the Temptations song, "My Girl", lyrics slightly altered and sang by the melodious vocals of Joseph Ratcliff, III (aka "Pops) and the less melodious vocals of Len Boehm, math instructor extraordinaire.  What happened next is still a mysterious magical moment that can barely be described in words.


SUMMER CAMP 2007: Math, Fun & Family

As it has for fourteen summers before, the Math Corps Summer Camp, 2007, provided another wonderful summer for Detroit children. Close to 400 middle school and high school students, from all over the city, were welcomed into an atmosphere full of caring, acceptance and high expectations.
