Parents and families...
hold a special and unique place in the Math Corps philosophy and are considered to play an integral role in the success of students.

The Math Corps stands on the belief that all children have a unique and special greatness within them, and that through hard work, a commitment to excellence, and a dedication to learning combined with the support of a caring family and community, this greatness can be realized.

Expectations
The key to student success more than anything else is the active involvement of our students' families. We respectfully ask and expect that all of our parents/guardians will work to uphold the following high standards and expectations that we hold for all of our students:
  1. We expect every student to attend every day, on time and prepared to learn.
  2. We expect every student to have his/her homework completed everyday.
  3. We expect every student to carry herself/himself in a manner that is respectful to all and befitting students learning at a major university.

WSU Math Corps Family Math Initiative
The WSU Math Corps, through a program called the WSU Math Corps Family Math Initiative, offers Mathematics courses to parents/guardians of Detroit Public Schools students who are members of the WSU Math Corps. The program runs for six weeks in the summer, for ten Saturdays during Wayne State’s Fall semester and for ten Saturdays during Wayne State’s Winter semester. The courses provided form a three-course sequence:

I: Foundations of Algebra
II: Algebra I
III: Algebra II
